Technician/Engineer Opening
Strategic Polymer Sciences, Inc. (SPS) is a fast-growing start-up in State College, PA and is in the process of commercialization of high-performance electroactive polymers for energy storage and actuation applications. SPS has several openings for full-time technicians, engineers, and film processing engineer.
Successful candidate will work with other mechanical/electrical engineers and materials scientists at SPS in the development, evaluation, and processing of new polymeric materials. Additionally he/she may also be responsible to work with external manufacturers and customers in the scale-up of selected materials and devices.
Qualifications:
- Background and experience in any engineering/science field
- Associate's degree is a minimum, will consider Bachelor degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials engineering, chemistry, physics, or any related discipline
- Willing to perform routine lab test of new materials, films, and devices
- Familiar with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Successful candidate will be highly self-motivated and display a can-do attitude with the ability to solve complex problems. Additionally, he/she will be familiar with laboratory tooling, fixtures, and lab safety measures. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a highly motivated, disciplined, business focused team are required.
Compensation:
Salary commensurate with experience.

OPEN POSITIONS
- Advanced degree in polymer sciences, chemistry, material sciences, chemical engineering
- Hands on laboratory experience in monomer and polymer synthesis and characterization
- Knowledge of materials structure-morphology-property relationship and be able to design new materials with target electrical/thermal/mechanical performance
- Strong capability in writing technical summary reports, publications, patents, and other related documents
- Experience in polymer film casting and electrical testing is preferred
- US permanent resident or citizenship is requested
