Polymer Chemist
SPS is seeking a polymer chemist to develop new and modify existing electro active polymers materials for energy storage and actuator applications. Responsibilities will also include laboratory management, identification of new, polymer related opportunities and solutions and writing proposals to secure funding for new projects.
Qualifications:
• PhD in polymer science, chemistry, material science, or chemical engineering
• Hands-on laboratory experience in monomer and polymer synthesis and characterization
• Expertise in material structure-morphology-property relationships
• Excellent technical writing skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with a can-do attitude and the ability to solve complex problems
• Experience in fluoropolymer chemistry is preferred

Cooling Device Engineer
SPS is seeking device engineer to develop modeling and testing capabilities to support SPS’ efforts in the development of polymers for electro-caloric cooling. Responsibilities will also include design, development and characterization of prototype cooling devices.
Qualifications:
• Master/Ph.D. in mechanical engineering, physics, or related discipline with a specialty in refrigeration design and development preferred,
• Three plus years of hands-on experience developing, modeling and testing cooling devices
• Knowledge of heat transfer, refrigeration, and cooling system analysis and design
• Proficient computer skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with can-do attitude and ability to solve complex problems.

Capacitor and Actuator/Haptics Device Engineer
SPS is device development engineer to assist in the design, development and fabrication of electro-mechanical devices for actuator and haptic applications utilizing electro-active polymers. Responsibilities will also include the design and development of high energy polymer film capacitors, identification of new electro-active polymer opportunities and solutions and writing proposals to secure funding for new projects.
Qualifications:
• Minimum BS in mechanical engineering, engineering science, acoustics or related discipline.
• Three plus years of hands-on experience modeling, testing and developing actuator focused devices.
• Good understanding of electrical properties and design of advanced capacitors.
• Experience with haptic feedback device design highly preferred
• Proficient computer skills
• Highly motivated self-starter with can-do attitude and ability to solve complex problems.

Process Technician
SPS is seeking a process technician to fabricate and characterize electro-active polymer actuators. Depending on the capabilities of the applicant, responsibilities may also include the development of test equipment and processes and laboratory and chemical management.
Qualifications:
• Associate's degree or equivalent experience in mechanical, polymer, materials or chemical engineering, nano-fabrication, or a related discipline
• Willing to perform routine fabrication and testing of new materials, films, and devices under engineering supervision
• Excellent attention to detail
• Manual dexterity to work with fragile materials
• Nano-fabrication and cleanroom skill are a plus
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as a member of a highly motivated, disciplined, business focused team are required
