About SPS
Strategic Polymer Sciences, Inc. (SPS) was founded in 2006 by Ralph Russo, a Silicon Valley executive and investor, and Dr. Qiming Zhang, an internationally recognized polymer scientist from Penn State University. Dr. Qiming Zhang and his team have spent more than a decade developing life-enhancing technologies at Penn State University. Strategic Polymer Sciences is unlocking the commercial potential of these technologies.
Our Mission
The mission of SPS is to create enabling technologies to improve the quality of living. SPS products currently serve the medical device, military, transportation, electronics, and energy industries. The company has plans to create three more technology platforms that will have applications in the optoelectronic, refrigeration, and semiconductor industries.
We employ 12 scientists and technicians at our State College headquarters. Our highly talented team has extensive experience in the materials sciences, chemistry, and mechanical and electrical engineering, as well as a unique combination of hands-on business experience and world-class research skills.

The company also has a satellite office in Redwood Shores, California. This office handles business development and sales functions. Our presence in the heart of Silicon Valley provides the company access to the largest venture capital market in the world, as well as exposure to new technologies.
